Brewing Information

Brewing in Minecraft adds to the overall players experience in the game. A lot of newer players do not use potions nearly as much as the grizzled old vets of the game do. I think that is mostly do to them not understanding how to use them or when the right time is to use them. Another thing is they just might not know how to make a potion or forget they have a potion. There are 24 types of potions in the game some with good effects, some with bad effects and some that are mixed effects. Hopefully with this guide it will help you learn about brewing so you can comfortably do it.

Brewing Equipment

First item you need is a Brewing Stand. You can Craft one with 1 Blaze Rod and any 3 stone type blocks.
Second item you need is either a Cauldron or a water source. You will need this to fill glass bottles.
Third item you need is Blaze Powder. This is used as fuel in the brewing stand, this requires a trip to the Neither to a Blaze Spawner.
Fourth item you need is Glass Bottles to make into Water Bottles. These will become your potions.

Ingredients

There are base ingredients and modifiers, Base ingredients are ingredients that can be added directly to a water bottle and are the starting point of all potions. Nether wart is the most fundamental of the base ingredients, as it is required to make the vast majority of potions. Modifiers are ingredients used to alter the properties of a potion or to change a potion effect into a different one. The fermented spider eye is unique in that it is the only modifier that can convert a water bottle directly into an effective potion.

Effect Ingredients

Effect ingredients imbue an awkward potion with a particular effect, but do not alter potion duration or intensity. When added directly to a water bottle, most of these ingredients produce a mundane potion. The exceptions to this are golden carrot, pufferfish, turtle shell, and phantom membrane, which cannot be added directly to a water bottle.
